✅ Success Story: Aghara Rajesh Chaturbhai (Halvad, Gujarat)

From ₹10/kg Gap to Steady Buyer Confidence

In January 2024, Aghara Rajesh Chaturbhai — a cumin grower from Halvad — faced an issue that’s all too common. Despite growing decent quality cumin, his lots were getting mixed with lower-grade arrivals at the APMC, resulting in ₹200–₹250 per quintal losses almost every auction. Sorting and packing after auction didn’t help much — buyers still questioned consistency.

After our first field visit and lot inspection, we advised Rajeshbhai to separate bold grains from dusted material before the market delivery and pack smaller lots by grade. It wasn’t a big overhaul — just better sorting and clearer bag markings. We also introduced him to a buyer looking for 4mm+ cumin with minimal split, and committed to consistent sizing.

By mid-February 2024, his cleaned lots fetched ₹10–₹11 more per kg than the average yard price — that’s ₹500–₹550 per quintal higher. Over three auctions, the price difference alone covered the extra labour cost and gave him enough confidence to replant cumin on an extra 21 bighas.

🌾 Real Results:

  • ✅ ₹10–₹11/kg better price within one month

  • ✅ Reduced lot rejection, 100% buyer repeat in March

  • ✅ Shift from reactive selling to confident pre-grading

  • ✅ 21 bighas land expansion in cumin sowing (April 2024)

💬 Final Note:

  • Rajeshbhai’s story reflects what many small growers can achieve — not by doing more, but by doing it better.
